Diabetes and erectile dysfunction

What the stats say

OK here is the scary statistics. I hope you are sitting down when you read this. Approximately 40-80% of diabetic men will experience at least some degree of erectile dysfunction during their lifetime. It is also estimated that men with diabetes develop erectile dysfunction up to 15 years before men without diabetes. Once you hit 50 the statistics say that 50-60% of men will have some difficulty with their erections. Once you are above the age of 70 it is more like 95%.

Why does diabetes and erectile dysfunction coexist?

Diabetes affects the small blood vessels in various parts of your body. It primarily impacts blood vessels in your heart, feet, eyes and kidneys. Unfortunately the penis also contains tiny blood vessels too. To get a healthy erection men need their healthy blood vessels and nerves to be functioning in an optimal fashion. This means that despite the desire and the willingness to have sex you may still experience erectile dysfunction.

Diabetes and erectile dysfunction solutionsWhat medications I can take?

There are many popular medications out there for men with diabetes and erectile dysfunction. Viagra and Cialis are two household names when it comes to erectile dysfunction. You should see your medical professional to get a prescription for these medications. However there maybe issues with these oral medications as diabetics also be mindful of their heart, especially if they are on heart medication. Viagra and Cialis do not interact well with heart medications and may cause bigger problems than being unable to sustain a healthy erection.

There are alternative treatments such as injection therapy, penile prostheses or vacuum erection devices. These alternative therapies sound less than ideal as a treatment for this kind of problem, however desperate times sometimes call for desperate measures.

That is some scary statistics. I am nearing my 40.

My family has a diabetic history. My father passed away from a heart attack. But the doctor said that his heart was in bad condition because of the diabetic.

That’s why I need to watch what I eat and drink. I should avoid sugar as much as I can. I drink my coffee with cream only. No sugar.

Can you elaborate more with this e-book? What kind of exercise that I should do?
It will be troublesome if I can only exercise in the bathroom while other people in my house want to use it.

Ha ha – yes ariefw it is advised that you do these exercises in the privacy of your own home where you won’t be disturbed. The exercises show you how to get blood into the small cells at the end of your member. It is a very good book that can help diabetics and non diabetics alike.

Hi. I know this page is not for women but I am happy to leave my comment.
The page is really clear and easy to follow. The information you are providing is I think exactly what readers want to know.
One thing I thought was the image you used twice. If I were you, I would like to use something different such as black and white photo of a man with sad face to make a contrast.
Again, I think the page is really informative and good resource for men with diabetes.

Thanks for your comments Yuki. You may find plenty of relevant information for yourself and or women on this site as well so feel free to explore further…

    Hey Ben
Its scary just looking at the percentages of affected males with accompanied diabetes.

I know that in addition to embarrassing feeling of having ED, is also the psychological part. The feeling of “low confidence” and ” self-esteem,” Any advice or tips on these psychological feelings?

I will certainly check out your e-book, thank you very much for this.

Thanks Roopesh. The only thing that can really improve your confidence and self esteem is the thoughts you have about the situation. Obviously the advice that is given in the book will naturally improve your confidence as your results will improve. Nothing builds confidence like results!! :o) … The only other advice I could suggest would be that you have a loving, understanding partner who will work through the issues with you. Again, the ebook is the best place to improve your results and therefore your confidence and self esteem!

Very good and well written article. I’m not going to lie I didn’t even know that diabetes and erectile disfunction went hand and hand. After reading this I now know a thing or two about the topic and I can help a few of my guy friends out. That’s if their suffering from the two. But I’m sure you could explain it a lot better than I can. So I’ll just share the link to your website on their Facebook pages. Thank you

Thanks Healthguy33. Yes this is one of those topics that does not get a lot of air time in diabetes circles but it definitely has an impact due to the smaller blood vessels in the penis. It is just another in the long and ever growing list of complications associated with having diabets. Thanks for reading and sharing!
